  • 1. By the way doctor... I'm 72 and was recently told that I am losing a bit of my sight because of macular degeneration. My doctor assured me that it was progressing very slowly, but also said there wasn't really anything to do about it. But I read that zinc or vitamins might help. Should I be taking them?

  • 7. By the way, doctor. For years, I've been taking the same dose of Synthroid for hypothyroidism, and recent tests place me in the normal range. However, I still have several symptoms of low thyroid--fatigue, difficulty losing weight, sensitivity to cold, and constipation. My doctor doesn't seem concerned with the symptoms, as long as my blood tests are normal. But I'm frustrated. Is there anything I can do?

  • 15. By the way, doctor. I lost my sense of taste and smell about four years ago. Is there anything that can be done? I'm 83 and in good health.
