  • 1. Ask the doctor. I have had CT scans of my coronary arteries as part of several annual physicals. They show my arteries have a lot of calcium--I am now in the 89th percentile for calcium scores. My stress tests and echocardiograms are normal, so are my blood pressure and cholesterol, and I feel fine. Should I have an angiogram to confirm the calcification?

  • 2. Ask the doctor. I signed up to be part of an epidemiological study and had a test called electron beam CT done on my heart. I do not have any symptoms of heart disease, but a note was sent to my doctor saying that I had a lot of calcium in my coronary arteries, and my doctor isn't sure what to do. What does this test result mean?

  • 16. Ask the doctor. After I had and abnormal electrocardiogram,my doctor wants me to have a nuclear stress test to check my arteries for any blockages. (I also have a left side bundle block.) What noninvasive test would give as much information (or almost as much) as a nuclear stress test? I have had many scans, for this and that, so I would like to limit my exposure to radiation if possible.
