Title: [Improvement of the surgical technic in induced abortions using a supplementary instrument (special handgrip with revolving support for interruption cannulas)]. Author: Anton W, Riefenstahl M. Journal: Zentralbl Gynakol; 1976; 98(22):1401-3. PubMed ID: 1007702. Abstract: Certain improvements were made on the traditional device used for vacuum aspiration abortions. A rubber cuff has been added to the base of the device with a metal cross piece to facilitate cervical dilation. In order to overcome past problems with manipulating the interruption cannulas, a special handgrip was developed out of light metal, which allows rotation of the cannulas. It is so designed that even in the half-opened hand, it will not fall free. The device can be used with little effort enabling the quick, systematic removal of all fetal material. Previous problems with forward and backward movement of the curette is eliminated. Blood los in pregnancies approximately 10-weeks-old is lowered by 5-40 ml and the time of the procedure is shortened by around 30 seconds. The frequency of early complications is lowered by .4% from a general figure of 5%.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
