  • Title: The Canadian health care system: what happens when there's no more money?
    Author: Warson A.
Journal: Med Interface; 1994 Jan; 7(1):44-7. PubMed ID: 10131623.
    Abstract:
As a result of Canada's sluggish economic growth, it is becoming too weak to sustain its $47.6 billion health care system. Patients are faced with having to pay for a number of medical services that were once free, hospitals must confront the possibility of being shut down as governments concentrate services in fewer facilities, thousands of health care workers are being laid off and others face the threat of losing their jobs, and the number of physicians is being controlled.
