Abstract: Nuclear medicine techniques offer a variety of approaches to the diagnosis of deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Several radionuclide methods are available to visualize venous structures, and many radiolabeled agents have been developed for direct visualization of blood clots, including platelets and monoclonal antibodies. Although still available on a limited basis, radiolabeled fibrinogen uptake studies have been replaced largely by newer methods.
