Abstract: Results of three separate surveys conducted in 1996 on group practice costs, management and physician compensation, and productivity showed surprising results. Family practice has the highest overhead of any specialty. Medical practices seem willing to pay premium rates to hire experienced managed care administrators and/or those with large medical practice experience.
