    Abstract:
    For-profits aren't the only ones who like to deal. As recent transactions show, small fortunes can be had in merger and affiliation talks with not-for-profit healthcare systems. Although rarely publicized, it isn't uncommon to find explicit promises of cash or capital investments hidden deep in agreement for merger, affiliation or mergerlike partnership deals with not-for-profits.
