    Abstract:
    Recent initiatives in the field of primary health care and community health include the recommendations of Primary Health Care: An Agenda for Discussion and Neighbourhood Nursing: A Focus for Care, the Audit Commission Report's on Making a Reality of Community Care and The Health Education Council document The Health Divide enforcing the need to go beyond health care to effect inequalities in health. Such policy initiatives require local translation and interpretation. One approach is to undertake a systematic review of primary health care and community services in conjunction with general practitioners. This paper describes how this type of review has been piloted in an electoral ward in North Birmingham.
