    Abstract:
    This rule implements a delay in the effective date of a final rule with comment period that appeared in the Federal Register on March 2, 1983. That rule revised the regulations that govern Medicare coverage and reimbursement for services of physicians who practice in providers and, as published, was to be generally effective on May 31, 1983. Due to the provisions of Pub. L. 98-21 (Social Security Amendments of 1983; enacted April 20, 1983) and comments we have received, we are delaying the effective date of the regulations concerning provider-based physicians until October 1, 1983.
