Title: Removal of obsolete rules; peer review organizations; Medicare program--HCFA. Final rule. Journal: Fed Regist; 1986 Dec 01; 51(230):43195-8. PubMed ID: 10301109. Abstract: This document removes rules pertaining to Professional Standards Review Organizations (PSROs), which became obsolete as a result of amendments made to the Social Security Act (the Act) by the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982 (TEFRA). Those amendments established a new peer review program under which Utilization and Quality Control Peer Review Organizations (PROs) would assume responsibilities very similar to those previously carried out by PSROs. Removal of the obsolete rules will preclude any possible confusion and make it unnecessary to include inoperative rules in future editions of HCFA's regulations (42 CFR Chapter IV).[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
