  • Title: The role of the homecare nurse throughout the continuum of blood cell transplantation.
    Author: Kelley CH, Randolph S.
    Journal: J Intraven Nurs; 1998; 21(6):361-6. PubMed ID: 10392102.
    Abstract:
Bone marrow or blood cell transplantation is becoming a frequently used treatment option for individuals with a variety of malignant and nonmalignant diseases. The technology used to treat and support patients through this process has improved and advanced rapidly in recent years, as has the focus to contain costs while maintaining quality care. The results of these trends have been improved patient survival, decreased length of hospital stay, and increased the use of home healthcare in the support of the patient before the transplant, during the hospital stay, and after the transplant.
