    Abstract:
    OBJECTIVE: To study the severe complication of retinal detachment resulted from posterior scleral reinforcement operation. METHOD: The specialty of this type of retinal detachment through the clinical observation of 22 eyes of 20 cases was analyzed. RESULTS: The posterior scleral reinforcement surgery cannot achieve good effects on high myopia and has many complications especially retinal detachment. This type of retinal detachment is more severe than others. The retinal reattachment was obtained in 59.1% of cases in the immediate postoperative period. CONCLUSIONS: The posterior scleral reinforcement is an immature operative method, and it should not be widely applied.
