  • Title: [The characteristic of the initial hemostatic status of patients requiring surgical treatment for lung diseases].
    Author: Kalabukha IA.
Journal: Lik Sprava; 1999 Jun; (4):75-7. PubMed ID: 10476649.
    Abstract:
Overall 164 patients were examined, who had been assigned to surgical treatment for nonspecific pyo-inflammatory diseases, tuberculosis, and pulmonary neoplasia, with the purpose of assessing the baseline hemostatic abnormalities. The presence of hypercoagulation and of hyperfibrinogenemia was proved to be the case against the background of low activity of fibrinolysis in all patients but the ratio of the above components and the mechanism of origination of abnormalities differed depending on the kind of the underlying disorder. A differentiated approach is recommended towards selecting corrective means for dealing with hemostatic inadequacies in treating the above-named conditions.
