Title: Effect of dietary taurine on endogenous hypercholesterolemia in rats fed on phenobarbital-containing diets. Author: Mochizuki H, Takido J, Yokogoshi H. Journal: Biosci Biotechnol Biochem; 1999 Jul; 63(7):1298-300. PubMed ID: 10478458. Abstract: The effect of dietary taurine on endogenous hypercholesterolemia induced by a phenobarbital-containing diet was investigated. Supplemented taurine did not affect the concentrations of serum cholesterol, but further potentiated the accumulation of hepatic cholesterol in the hypercholesterolemic state induced by phenobarbital. It is suggested that taurine might amplify the hepatic cholesterogenesis in phenobarbital-induced hypercholesterolemia.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
