Author: Akinola O, Adelekun TA, Akinsola W.
Journal: West Afr J Med; 1999; 18(3):175-8. PubMed ID: 10593152.
    Abstract:
Nine patients presenting with end stage renal disease needing haemodialysis underwent jugular venous access at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex over a two year period. There were 7 males and 2 females with age range 22-66 years. All the patients were hypertensive. Frequent complications of inadequate flow and inadvertent removal were absent in these cases. There was only one patient with catheter thrombosis and in another catheter related infection. Haemodialysis was maintained for periods ranging from 3 to 9 months in these patients satisfactorily.
