Title: Screening of some Nigerian medicinal plants for antibacterial activity. Author: Kudi AC, Umoh JU, Eduvie LO, Gefu J. Journal: J Ethnopharmacol; 1999 Nov 01; 67(2):225-8. PubMed ID: 10619388. Abstract: Crude extracts from eight Nigerian medicinal plants, used traditionally in the treatment of infectious and septic diseases in both humans and animals were screened in vitro for antibacterial activity, using the hole-plate diffusion method. Most of the extracts were active against gram-positive bacteria. Two of the plant, Angeiossus schimperi and Anacardium occidentale, had good antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa which are gram-negative bacteria.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
