Abstract: The article on the new drugs reprinted below appeared in the February 1956 issue of Mental Hospitals. It is based on a discussion held during the Seventh Mental Hospital Institute in October 1955 in Washington, D.C. Chlorpromazine and reserpine had been available in the United States less than two years when the institute participants met to discuss how their hospitals were coping with the demands of the new treatments.
