Title: [ESES-syndrome in child- and adolescent psychiatry]. Author: Jung M, Gabriel KH, Stolle D. Journal: Z Kinder Jugendpsychiatr Psychother; 2000 Feb; 28(1):17-24. PubMed ID: 10746295. Abstract: OBJECTIVES: The article describes the theoretical background of the diagnosis and therapy of the ESES syndrome. METHODS: The assessment and treatment of children with ESES in a child-psychiatric setting is shown. The underlying data have been taken from 18 outpatients with or without epileptic seizures. RESULTS: The early diagnosis of non-specific symptoms and the anti-epileptic treatment probably play an important role in preventing the progression of ultrastructural brain damage.
