  • Title: Developing a competency-based nursing programme.
    Author: Pearce RK, Trenerry A.
Journal: Prof Nurse; 2000 Feb; 15(5):326-9. PubMed ID: 10986958.
    Abstract:
A nurse is considered competent in a specific role if he or she demonstrates the necessary skills, knowledge and appropriate attitude to a set level. Level-specific competencies are based on the belief that nurses of different grades will achieve different levels of competency against a set standard. One unit developed a competency-based nursing programme for newly qualified D-grade staff.
