Title: A glucan from the cell wall of the cyanobacterium Spirulina platensis. Author: van Eykelenburg C. Journal: Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek; 1978; 44(3-4):321-7. PubMed ID: 110253. Abstract: A polysaccharide was isolated from the cell wall of the cyanobacterium Spirulina platensis. Hydrolysis of the polysaccharide only yielded glucose. Curie-point pyrolysis mass spectrometry of the polysaccharide resulted in a spectrum very similar to that of beta-1,2-glucan. Probably the glucan originates from the fibrillar inner layer of the cell wall.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
