  • Title: [Drawing of the family and of the human figure: a comparative study between children with epilepsy and a control group].

    Abstract:
    OBJECTIVE: In this study our aim was to get to know children with epilepsy through their drawings. In this case the drawings of the human figure and the family were chosen. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The population which was studied included 32 children: 16 of these children had epilepsy and the 16 others were the control group. RESULTS: From the comparison performed between these two groups of children it was found that in relation to family drawings children with epilepsy tend more to draw their own family than children in the control group. As for the drawing of the human figure and the global analysis of the body figure it was found that the mental age of the isolated character and the higher level character drawn by epileptic children was inferior to chronological age, while the reverse was true in the drawings of the control group. In relation to the analysis of structural cohesion in the representation of the body it was found that hands were absent in the drawings of epileptic children.
