Abstract: Experiences of female Army nurses-their devotion to duty, contributions, and successes as well as their trials, tribulations, and sufferings--during the Spanish-American War and afterwards are described. How service by the heroines of '98 led to a change of attitude by the Army Medical Department is sketched.
