Title: [Incidence and control of cattle ringworm in Scandinavia]. Author: Bredahl L, Gyllensvaan C. Journal: Mycoses; 2000; 43 Suppl 1():8-10. PubMed ID: 11098619. Abstract: Clinical aspects, prophylactic as well as therapeutical vaccination with a live attenuated vaccine against Trichophyton verrucosum are dealt with in this article. Further, the epidemical and zoonotical view of the disease is described. The farmers' motives to vaccinate differ depending on type of herd. Hygienic and disinfectant measures in connection with the start of a vaccination program are emphasized. In Sweden, vaccination against ringworm is included in the "Faultless Hide" scheme as one amongst other preventative measures aiming to improve the hide quality. A beneficial effect on both frequency of diseased herds and quality of the hides is obtained.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
