Title: Progress toward poliomyelitis eradication--Eastern Mediterranean Region, 1999-September 2000. Author: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Journal: MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep; 2000 Nov 17; 49(45):1024-8. PubMed ID: 11098779. Abstract: In 1988, the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) of the World Health Organization (WHO) adopted a resolution to eradicate poliomyelitis from the region by 2000. Since then, substantial progress has been made in vaccination and surveillance and, by the end of the year, 19 of the 23 EMR countries are expected to have interrupted poliovirus transmission. This report summarizes progress toward this goal from January 1999 through September 2009.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
