    Abstract:
    The adjustment to Medicare's new outpatient prospective payment system has been anything but calm and orderly. Hospital billing offices have had to totally redo their systems. Ill-prepared providers are seeing claims tossed out and reimbursement delayed, with a definite impact on their bottom lines. Now, insurers are poised to adopt similar payment policies. What's needed in many cases is training and a coders-wanted sign, observers say.
