  • Title: [Skiing-injuries and their prevention using ski-safety-bindings. Efficiency, possibilities and limitations of adjustment].

    Abstract:
Modern skiing techniques necessitate the rigid hold of the boot on the ski and of the foot in the boot. Therefore the risk of skiing injuries increased considerably and the development of a new safety ski-binding was necessary. After a high quota of failures intensive research led to the possibility to set up general instructions for the construction and adjustment of satisfactory safety bindings. Difficulties still exist regarding the wide publication of the possibilities to adjust safety bindings according to the individual measurements of the bones of each skier and the correct technical application of the adjustment apparatus. First statistical results after the use of these general instructions seem to allow the assumption that the problem of safety bindings could be solved.
