    Abstract:
    President Bill Clinton named Eric P. Goosby as acting director of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy. Goosby currently directs the Office of HIV/AIDS Policy at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and previously oversaw the implementation of the Ryan White CARE Act in the Health Resources and Service Administration. Some AIDS activists believe that this interim appointment serves as a trial period to gauge reaction prior to selecting Goosby for the permanent role.
