    Abstract:
    Nelfinavir (Viracept) is expected to be approved soon by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This fourth protease inhibitor appears to have fewer side effects, a different resistance profile, and offers new options for combination therapy. Results from all trials by the manufacturer, Agouron, showed statistically significant improvements in CD4 counts and viral load, with the best results associated with combination therapy. No clinical endpoint results are available yet.
