Abstract: AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAPs), created as vehicles to provide controlled Federal funding for medication for chronic illness, are in financial trouble. Many programs receive little or no matching funds from the States, and health departments are unable to expand the number of enrollees for their programs. The International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care (IAPAC) is calling for meaningful reform of the ADAPs program as many lives are adversely affected by the financial restrictions on ADAPs.
