    Abstract:
    Three new viral load assays with much higher sensitivities have reached the market. These assays can now detect down to 40 copies/mL of virus. The question of whether these ultrasensitive assays further the management of HIV disease is unanswered. This is the question to be considered when deciding whether the new assays are cost effective in a clinical setting.
