Title: Don't mix Sustiva with Fortovase. Journal: Posit Aware; 1998; 9(5):17. PubMed ID: 11365885. Abstract: DuPont Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of Sustiva (efavirenz), is urging patients to not take this drug with Fortovase (saquinavir mesylate) due to a possible interaction that may reduce blood levels of Fortovase by 60 percent. Studies are also being conducted to determine the potential interactions of Sustiva with Norvir (Ritonavir). In addition, the manufacturer recommends increasing Crixivan (Indinavir) doses by 25 percent, when taking it with Sustiva. Early data is also showing that Sustiva may lower the blood levels of amprenavir by 40 percent.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
