Title: Names reporting in Illinois is successfully challenged. Journal: AIDS Alert; 1999 Jul; 14(7):82-3. PubMed ID: 11366420. Abstract: When the Illinois Department of Public Health proposed a regulatory change to names-based HIV reporting in 1998, the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund challenged the proposal. Lambda questioned whether using names would lead to improved tracking of the disease, and believed that confidentiality could be compromised. Confidentiality breaches are common, and several are cited. Lambda feels that adding additional detriments to HIV testing is counterproductive. Eventually the State of Illinois rejected the name-based reporting system and moved to a non-name identifier system.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
