Title: Medicaid early treatment bill now in Congress. Journal: AIDS Treat News; 1999 May 21; (No 319):5. PubMed ID: 11366464. Abstract: While Federal guidelines call for early treatment of HIV, Medicaid regulations stipulate that benefits will not start until a patient is ill and disabled. This contradiction in Federal guidelines means that many patients have to wait until they have disabling illness before beginning treatment, making the treatment less effective and more expensive. A recent bill introduced by Rep. Richard Gephardt, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, and Senator Robert Torricelli, the Early Treatment for HIV Act, seeks to rectify the situation. The internet address where the full text can be found is provided. The text of a press release from Rep. Pelosi's offices is also included.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
