  • Title: Principles for optimal care during pregnancy.
Journal: Proj Inf Perspect; 1999 Sep; (28):18. PubMed ID: 11367359.
    Abstract:
Methods of delivery and anti-HIV therapy are significant issues in the prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission (vertical transmission). However, other issues play important roles in the rate of vertical transmission and the general health of a pregnancy. The presence of hepatitis C or herpes, substance abuse, or domestic violence may increase the risk of vertical transmission. Access to and use of proper prenatal care can positively affect the outcome of an HIV-positive woman's pregnancy. Contact information is provided.
