    Abstract:
    The Food and Drug Administration has recommended the approval of Glaxo Wellcome's drug, Epivir-HBV (3TC) for treating chronic hepatitis B infection. If the approval goes forward, this would be the first anti-HIV drug approved for hepatitis B infection. Several other pharmaceutical companies are also investigating possible drugs for treating hepatitis B.
