  • Title: [The relationship between changes in the neuronal activity of the anterior hypothalamus and stimulation of subcutaneous vein thermoreceptors].
    Author: Glebova NF.
Journal: Fiziol Zh SSSR Im I M Sechenova; 1975 Feb; 61(2):187-92. PubMed ID: 1140434.
    Abstract:
The unit activity of the rabbit medial preoptic area was studied during perfusion of the external pectoral vein with the Ringer-Lokk solution at different temperatures. 10 of the 34 neurons reacted increasing their firing rate at 25-34 degrees C and decreasing it at 38-42 degrees C. We think that increasing of tonic impulsation from the hypodermic veins' receptors by cooling increases the activity of single neurons of the medial preoptic area.
