Abstract: Following intramedullary rodding of two long-bone fractures, a twenty-year-old woman developed the clinical picture of fat embolism syndrome with severe neurological involvement. Corroborating evidence suggested paradoxical embolization of fat as the precipitating cause of this neurologic deterioration.
