Abstract: The impact of the International Space Station (ISS) on the science community, particularly Life Sciences is reviewed. The ISS Science Working Group, formed in 1992, established scientific requirements for a large number of plant and animal species and a subgroup was responsible for development of the Gravitational Biology Facility and the Centrifuge Facility. Six habitats under development are discussed. The habitats are for cell culture, aquatic animals, insects, rodents, plant research, and incubation of avian eggs.
