Abstract: During the period of 1894-1945, hygienic administration institutions were established in the central and local levels, responsible for general hygienic affairs, including prevention of infectious diseases, public health, anti-opium smoking and drug inspection. Medical education and research unit were also set up, such as Taibei Hospital, Taiwan Viceroy Medical School and Taibei Imperial University.
