Abstract: The development of dental services in the Bulgarian army is traced from its foundation up to the last world war. The first dental services (three) were founded in 1911, whilst in 1914 they became twelve. During the Balkan war the dental service in our army was non-existant. During world war one dentists were mobilized in hospitals and regiments and were obliged to work with their own instrumentarium and materials. During world war two, the first dental offices are being set out with the appointment of permanent dentists in divisional (battalion) hospitals, regiments and in the air force.
