Title: Reproductive Health Services v. Webster. Author: U.S. District Court, W.D. Missouri, C.D.. Journal: Fed Suppl; 1987 Apr 30; 662():407-30. PubMed ID: 11648378. Abstract: Several sections of a Missouri statute regulating abortion were declared unconstitutional by a U.S. District Court. The section stating that the life of each human begins at conception and that unborn children have protectable interests in health, life, and well-being was found to be in direct conflict with the Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade. Other provisions struck down included the requirements that all post-16-week abortions be performed in hospitals and that all facilities which use public funds or employ public employees refrain from performing or encouraging abortions. The requirement that the physician determine whether or not the fetus is viable before performing the abortion was upheld, although the prescription of specific tests and findings to be performed by the doctor was stricken from the statute.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
