Title: [Calcifying aponeurotic fibroma: the case of a 15-year old boy]. Author: Driss M, Mrad K, Smida M, Abbès I, Ben Ghachem M, Ben Romdhane K. Journal: Rev Chir Orthop Reparatrice Appar Mot; 2001 Oct; 87(6):610-3. PubMed ID: 11685154. Abstract: Calcifying aponeurotic fibroma is a rare benign soft tissue tumor that usually involves distal extremities in children and young adults. It is characterized by a high rate of recurrence. We report a case in a 15-year-old boy who complained of painless swelling of his right foot. Tomodensitometry showed a dense well-circumscribed tumor with peripheral calcification. The tumor was completely removed. The patient is well at 28 months follow-up. Diagnosis relied on microscopic analysis showing fibroblastic proliferation with focal calcification and chondroid differentiation.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
