PubMed ID: 11799526. Abstract: Allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) is the treatment of choice for many hematological malignancies. Its curative graft-versus-leukemia (GvL) effect is mainly mediated by donor-derived alloreactive T cells. However, if the donor T cells are not selected for their reactivity against leukemic cells, the GvL effect is often associated with graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), a major complication of SCT.
