  • Title: [Dento-alveolar cleft and the lateral incisor].
    Author: van der Wal KG.
Journal: Ned Tijdschr Tandheelkd; 1993 Oct; 100(10):442-4. PubMed ID: 11917879.
    Abstract:
In the period of 1980 to 1990, 55 cleft, lip and palate patients, ranging in age from nine to twelve years, were treated. With 52% of them the lateral incisor on the cleft side was agenetic, in 24% normally developed and in 24% malformed. The malformed and the fissural teeth were removed during bone grafting of the dento-alveolar cleft. In almost all cases a well-formed tooth arch could be obtained by orthodontic treatment.
