Title: [Effect of the hypothalamus and reticular formation on the cerebral cortex in hypoxic brain states]. Author: Suchkov VV. Journal: Fiziol Zh SSSR Im I M Sechenova; 1975 Oct; 61(10):1524-30. PubMed ID: 1204862. Abstract: In anesthetized cats and unanesthetized rabbits, the reticular formation and the posterior hypothalamus were shown to be able to reduce the resistance of cortical vessels thus increasing the blood supply of the brain cortex.
