Abstract: Constipation and fecal incontinence are problems that are frequently encountered in daily practice. Over the last decade biofeedback therapy has emerged as a useful adjunct for the treatment of these problems. Biofeedback therapy is a learning process that is based on "operant conditioning" techniques. Biofeedback training aims to restore a degree of continence that enables patients to resume their activities to a satisfactory level with good success rates and prolonged benefits.
