  • Title: The role of dendritic cells in neurodegenerative diseases.
Author: Iribarren P, Cui YH, Le Y, Wang JM.
Journal: Arch Immunol Ther Exp (Warsz); 2002; 50(3):187-96. PubMed ID: 12098934.
    Abstract:
Dendritic cells (DCs) are the most potent antigen-presenting cells (APCs) involved in the induction of adaptive immune responses. The presence of DCs in the central nervous system (CNS) and the active participation of the immune system in a variety of neurodegenerative diseases have been demonstrated. This review will discuss recent findings pertinent to DCs and other antigen-presenting cells in the CNS in health and disease states.
