    Abstract:
    It has been demonstrated that the affinity of hemoglobin to oxygen decreases after birth due to changes in the saline composition of erythrocytes. It is suggested that this decrease is mainly due to accumulation of 2.3-diphosphoglycerate in erythrocytes of the growing rabbits.
