    Abstract:
    The author provides data for recent years on the foreign population in the states of the Federal Republic of Germany and compares the West German foreign population with that of other European countries and the world. The data indicate increased migration, particularly of refugees; decreased emigration of foreigners; and increased births among foreigners. The foreign population is broken down by country of origin, with Turkish immigrants accounting for the largest portion.
