Title: Roe v. Wade. My prochoice journey. Author: Kennedy KR. Journal: Conscience; 1998; 18(4):28. PubMed ID: 12178916. Abstract: In this commentary, Kathleen Rose Kennedy explains how she feels about abortion rights. In 1972, Kennedy attended her first meeting sponsored by the National Organization for Women (NOW) and found a prominent display of abortion rights literature. While Kennedy felt that abortion should be safe, legal, and accessible, she was puzzled by the fact that abortion rights were obviously a top priority. Today, Kennedy believes that abortion is a profound woman's rights issue because it is a woman's health issue. However, in 1973, her formal membership in NOW began, not over abortion rights, but over the exclusion of girls from Little League Baseball. Abortion continues to be a morally murky issue for Kennedy who, nevertheless, believes that abortion should be safe, legal, rate, and accessible.[Abstract] [Full Text] [Related] [New Search]
